The work

What they take off your plate

  • Reviewing user-generated content against your guidelines

  • Community and comment moderation, reports, and appeals

  • Flagging policy violations and escalating edge cases

  • Queue triage, QA, and feedback to tighten the guidelines

Vetting for this role

What we check before we shortlist a content moderators.

General vetting isn't enough. These are the checks specific to this role, on top of the skill tests every applicant takes.

  • Real queues, not just policy reading

We ask about the queues they actually worked and the calls they had to make. Reading a policy once doesn't count.

  • Judgment on the grey areas

We walk through borderline cases. Clear, consistent decisions matter more than speed alone.

  • Sensitive-content readiness

For queues that involve sensitive material, we only shortlist people who have handled it before and know the wellbeing side.

Typical engagements

The three briefs we see most.

Monthly, part-time or full-time

Ongoing moderation

A moderator on your queues day to day, with QA and feedback so the guidelines get sharper over time.

Usually 2–6 weeks

Launch or backlog clear-out

Extra hands to clear a backlog or cover a launch spike, then scale back down.

On-call cover

Nights, weekends, escalations

Coverage for off-hours and the harder calls, so reports don't sit until Monday.

Typical ranges, not quotes. Your brief decides the scope and the timeline.

Content moderators: questions

Before you hire.

Do your moderators work to our own guidelines?

Yes. They moderate against your policy and escalation rules, not a generic one. Share your guidelines and we shortlist people who have worked similar queues.

What about sensitive or distressing content?

Some queues involve it, and we're honest about that. For those briefs we only shortlist people who have handled sensitive material before, and we expect you to have wellbeing support and clear guidelines in place.

Can I start with part-time coverage?

Yes. Part-time, night, weekend, and on-call arrangements are common for moderation. Put the hours and time zones you need in your brief.
