The brief
An employer needs a reliable research assistant to look up U.S. criminal cases and submit public-records (FOIA) requests for body-worn camera footage from police departments and sheriff's offices. This starts as a fixed-price test project, with potential for ongoing, higher-volume work.
What you'll do
- Search county and state court records for arrest dates, case numbers, charges, agencies, and officer details
- Write and submit FOIA/public-records requests
- Create accounts on records portals and follow up as needed
- Log every request, response, fee, and status in Google Sheets
What we're looking for
- Comfortable with online research, government websites, and court records
- Strong Google Sheets skills and professional written English
- Able to create portal accounts and follow up reliably
- Experience with FOIA/public records, legal research, or police records is a plus
How it works
