Principal Experience Designer - Visual Design & Design Systems (Remote/Hybrid US) - Figma, Design Tokens

An established enterprise SaaS company (finance, risk and sustainability software) is hiring a Principal Experience Designer to shape the visual future of its large enterprise design system - the components, patterns, templates, accessibility standards and shared experiences used across its B2B platform. What you'll do - Spend roughly 60-70% of your time leading the design system's visual direction: evolving its visual language (typography, colour, spacing, iconography, motion, brand expression) - Shape a scalable, semantic token architecture and build a library of full-screen reference designs - Write visual usage guidance and documentation, and evaluate AI-generated designs - Spend the remaining 30-40% on high-visibility visual work for major conferences, marketing partnerships and executive audiences - Coach other designers and influence cross-functional partners What we're looking for - 10+ years in product design, visual design, UX or related fields, including significant platform/enterprise work - A Bachelor's in Design, HCI or a related field (or 8 years + Master's, or 6 years + PhD) - A portfolio showing exceptional visual craft and the ability to turn a visual point of view into scalable product systems - Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design and prototyping workflows - Experience defining or evolving a design system's visual language - tokens, components, patterns and documentation - Strong ability to craft product narratives for senior leaders and high-visibility audiences - Plus: semantic/multi-tier token systems, motion, and presentation/event design How it works This is a full-time principal-level role, remote or hybrid within the US, with up to 20-25% travel. Compensation is $190,000-$315,000/yr plus a discretionary bonus, RSUs and 401(k) match.
