The brief
An established European e-commerce retailer runs an older osCommerce store and wants to move to a modern, plugin-friendly platform. The likely route is a fresh build on PrestaShop, but first they want honest advice on whether to migrate to PrestaShop or upgrade the current osCommerce to a current PHP version. We're looking for a developer who can advise, then deliver the migration end to end.
What you'll do
- Review the current osCommerce 2.x store (files already lifted to PHP 7.4) and recommend the best path: rebuild on PrestaShop or upgrade osCommerce to PHP 8.x
- Migrate or rebuild the store on the chosen platform while preserving products, data and functionality
- Recreate the existing custom modules - B2B pricing, points/rewards, banner manager, specials and product-management tools
- Integrate modern payment gateways (for example Google Pay, Klarna and a local card gateway)
- Test the full catalogue and checkout, then hand over a working store
What we're looking for
- Hands-on e-commerce migration experience with osCommerce and/or PrestaShop
- Strong PHP (7.4 and 8.x) and store module/plugin development
- Payment gateway integration experience
- Ability to replicate existing custom functionality faithfully
