The brief
A social-impact startup working on digital accessibility and equitable access to technology is building the first phase of its website and needs an experienced WordPress and WooCommerce developer to deliver it. The goal is a clean, modern site built on a ready-made accessible theme, with a small shop, user accounts and secure checkout — all meeting WCAG 2.1 AA.
What you'll do
- Build a WordPress + WooCommerce site using a ready-made accessible theme
- Create the core pages: Home, About, Resources and Contact
- Set up user sign-up, login and profile pages
- Configure a simple shop with secure checkout via Stripe or PayPal
- Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA compliance: screen-reader support, a high-contrast option and full keyboard navigation
- Make the site mobile-friendly and fast on slower connections
- Add the required legal/footer pages
- Record a short walkthrough (video or written) covering how to manage users, content and orders
What we're looking for
- Solid WordPress and WooCommerce build experience
- Practical knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)
- Experience integrating Stripe or PayPal checkout
- Attention to performance and responsive design
- Reliable communication against a dated milestone plan
How it works
This is a fixed-price project with a milestone plan: a draft site for review, a feature-complete build, then launch. A possible second phase (content feeds, investment features, a forum and alerts) may follow if phase one goes well. Apply through iince — we review every application and, when you're a good fit, introduce you directly to the client.
How applying works
- Your profile and the short skill tests for this role, about twenty minutes the first time.
- With an account, your details and passed tests are reused; only missing tests are taken.
- We review every application personally and introduce the best fits to the client by email.
