Vetting for this role

What we check before we shortlist a photographers and models.

General vetting isn't enough. These are the checks specific to this role, on top of the skill tests every applicant takes.

  • Images that sold products

Catalog and campaign work used by real stores, and how consistent it is across a whole range.

  • Delivery that fits a store

Sizes, backgrounds and naming ready for product pages and marketplaces, not just a gallery.

  • Reliable on the day

Punctual, prepared, and clear about usage rights before the shoot.

Photographers and models: questions

Before you hire.

Do I need to be in the same city?

For product shoots, no: you ship the products to the photographer. For model and lifestyle shoots, we shortlist people where the shoot happens.

Who handles models and makeup?

Either the photographer's network or a creative producer. Some models also do makeup, which keeps a small shoot simple.

What about usage rights for models?

Agree them before the shoot: where images run and for how long. We flag it in every shortlist.

A good brief for a photographers and models says

  • What's being photographed, and how many items
  • Style: clean catalog, lifestyle, campaign
  • Where the shoot happens, or whether you can ship
  • Budget: a range is fine
  • When you need the images
